What are Product Attributes?
An Attribute is a variable aspect of what would otherwise be identical products. A very simple example of an attribute would be a clothing size. Attributes are what differentiates on tee shirt from another. Usually you would have multiple attributes requiring a matrix to display them. eg. Size, Colour, length.
Using a Matrix to display these products gives you an easy visual display of product in stock, being purchased or sold. It also allows you to create multiple products very quickly. eg. If an item that comes in 5 sizes, 3 colours and 2 lengths you can either manually create a product for each of the 30 combinations or create all at once using the Matrix.
How to create a new Attribute
- Select Inventory tab
- SelectProducts Attributes Button
- SelectNEW button
- Now you are ready to start creating entering details of the product starting with the Group Name
- Next, enter theGroup Description
- Under Attribute Names type the name of the first attribute - by default this will be the grids Y Axis (verticle axis)
- Enter the Attribute Values for this attribute and an abreviation - For the Attribute Name "Colour" values would be
the individual colours available
- For each Attribute Value enter a unique abbreviation (this helps keep product names shorter)
- Enter the second attribute which will be theX Axis<LinkId=1185> and its values. (X & Y Axis> can be changed later if required)
- Enter any more attributes relating to this product up to the maximum number in preferences and their values
- SelectNext to create the Products
- Select the Select All check box
- Select Create Selected Products button - you will see a progress bar as the products are created.
Select Next button when the progress bar has finished
- You will now be in theLinked Products screen
- Scroll down and select any products with attribute combinations that are not wanted
- Select the red X in the top left corner - the product will now change colour indicating that it will be deleted.
- Continue to select any other unwanted products.
- When all unwanted products have been flagged for deletion select Next button
- You will now be in the Populate Details Screen
- Select a product to be the Template in the drop down list
- Select Show Details - this will open the product card
- Enter details as per a new product - Save when finished
- Select Select All check box on the left to select all products
- Select the Select All check box on the right to copy data in allfields or select fields individually if required
- Select Copy Details button
- Select Next - you will now see the completed product grid
