Units of Measure

Are you aware of what the UOM drop down will do to the stock quantities?

Some Products can be bought and sold in various units of measure. Example: - You may purchase a product by the carton - Each carton may contain packs of six bottles. When selling the product you may offer the option of selling individual

bottles, Packs of 6 bottles or entire Cartons. Using Units of Measure means that a user does not need to know the
quantity of a carton or pack, they simply sell 1 carton etc.

When using Units of Measure, the base default unit of measure is a "UNIT" and everything else is a multiple of this base unit.

How to Use Units of Measure

Units of Measure (UOM) can be created from the Quantity tab within the product or from the Top menu bar under Inventory=>Units of Measure

Enter the name of the UOM Select the product to be linked to the UOM from the drop down list Select the Unit Multiplier (How many Units in the UOM) eg. Our first UOM may be a Bottle. The Unit Multiplier would be 1x of Unit (default). The next UOM may be a 6 Pack - The Unit Multiplier would be 6x a Unit

NB. The multiplier can only be of a UOM with a multiplier of 1 Unit.

The next UOM could be a Carton - the multiplier would be 24x a Unit.

One UOM should be ticked as Sales Default - this is the default UOM used to populate sales orders, invoices etc. eg Bottle or what your smallest unit you sell is One UOM should be ticked as the Purchase Default eg Carton - or what quantity you would usually buy the product in
