Where can I see the depreciation postings for the future?
The Fixed Asset accounts are are configured in Preferences<LinkId=1063> under the heading Default Asset Accounts. To see the accounts and current balances you need to view through the Chart of Accounts. The Chart Of Accounts is a list and all lists in ERP can be Filtered<LinkId=251>, Searched<LinkId=252>, Customised<LinkId=249>, Printed<LinkId=253> and Exported<LinkId=254>. In this case you can also view future dated transactions including depreciation by changing the date of the data being viewed.
How to view depreciation postings for the future Select Accounts tab Select Accounts List - normally this will open in Tree Mode. If not select the Tree Mode check box Expand out the Fixed Asset group by clicking on the plus (+) sign adjacent
You will now see the related accounts including: General Assets (and other asset grouping accounts) These are header accounts showing an Acc Balance (starting asset value) and Tot Balance (Opening balance less depreciation and disposals) Select + to expand groups Within each group you will see a Depreciation account for that group. This shows the amount of Depreciation expensed Double click on the Acc Balance field for the depreciation account you want to view You will now see the Details By Account list. By changing the date range at the top right of the screen to a future date you can see the depreciation amounts scheduled to be posted within the new future date range
