F5, F6 and F7

Do you know how to use the F5,F6,F7 searching features? Also how to use the search box on the main screen.

When you are in any list or report, simply select which column you wish to search on by either selecting it from the Search Column Drop Down or left click once on the desired column from within the list or report. Once the desired column is displayed in the Search Column Drop Down, simply start typing in the Search Text Field what it is you are looking for.

Pressing "F5" "F6" or "F7" function keys on your keyboard, will search in the following ways for a subject:

F5 "Full" Opens with the full list of the subject eg. when finding a client in sales order "F5" will show the full list of all your clients. Key in the first letter of your subject and the list will drop down and highlight the first subject starting with that letter, key in further letters to narrow your search further. ie typing "Smi" will find and highlight all names beginning with the letters "Smi"

F6 "Starts with" Opens with no list (Great for speed) and when you enter the first letters of the subject, then press F6, a short list of subjects that start with the letters entered, will appear. These lines will be highlighted. ie typing "Smi" will only display names beginning with the letters "Smi". No other names will be displayed, so you will not see any names beginning with "Sma"

F7 "Like" Opens with no list (Great for speed) and when you enter the any letters of the subject then press F7, a list of subjects with the like letters you have entered will appear. ie typing "Smi" will find and highlight all names with the letters "Smi" anywhere within the name so "Mr Smith" will display

Note: If you have selected a list using the "F6" mode, these lines will be highlighted. Then when you further select data with F7 mode for the "Like" selection the list will increase and show everything with "Like", the orginal selection that "Starts With", will still be highlighted

Remember: By default the first left hand column in any list or report, is the default search column.
