Overview
A Marketing Contact becomes a Lead when accessed from the Lead screen and an action has been recorded. An action may be to schedule a follow-up, email a brochure or any other action resulting from contacting the Lead. The recorded actions/follow-ups are fed into the Sales Pipeline report to allow you to analyse the activity necessary to convert a Marketing Contact to a Cutomer. The moment you record that you have contacted, attempted to contact or scheduled a date to contact a Marketing Contact, they become a Lead.
Normally Contacts are imported into ERP and they become Leads when contacted. On occasions you may want to add an individual Lead such as for example when you meet someone and they give you a business card or invite you to contact them.
How to Enter a Lead
- Select Marketing tab
- Select Lead button
- Enter the company and contact details
- Enter an action type from the drop down list
- Select Follow Up button if you wish to schedule a follow up
- SelectEmail button if you wish to email information the the Lead
- Select Appointment button if you wish to schedule an appointment
- Select Quote button if the lead has requested a Quote - this will open the Quote screen
- Select Sales Order button if the Lead has given a Sales Order - this will open the sales order screen
- Select Invoice button if you wish to create an invoice for the Lead
Each of the above buttons will automatically generate an action
