Overview

Updates with TrueERP are fully automated and require no intervention on your behalf as they are controlled by one of the 4 ERP main world wide servers. These update checks are triggered via the ERP Service menu which looks for these periodically. When it finds an update it will download the required files, both server and user updates and store them on the C drive of your ERP_MySQL server under C:ERP Software\Utilities\Updates\....

Should you not wish to be automatically updated or you wish to be part of the beta programme, please simply inform ERP and they will adjust your setting on one of the main world wide servers to suit.

You will know an update has occurred when you try to login and you see the the company file seletion number, on the login screen is in brackets ie "Sample_Company  (Version 8.0.3.1)". This will be due to the fact that the server or company file has updated but the login screen has not. it will read something like "Client Version: - 8.0.3.0" and so is not compatible.

Won't update

Main reason for not updating is the download of 1 of the 2 files is incomplete ie the user file was interupted part way through a download.

First thing to check is to open the ERP Service menu on the ERP_MySQL server by selecting "Start: All Programs: ERP Software: ERP Service Menu"

Once the ERP Service Menu is open select the "Licence" tab, then "Check Licence". It will now inform you that a request has been sent to check your licence information. Now open the "Log" tab and you should see within a few seconds something like

09/05/11 09:28:12:531 Detail > Communicating with ERP server.
09/05/11 09:28:12:906 Detail > Finished communicating with ERP server.

If you don't get these communication messages, there is an issue with your server communicating with one of the 4 ERP main world wide servers. see "Lost Connection" to resolve. This will need to be done defore anything else.

If the connection is working, simply go to the "Update" tab and select "Check Update". This will take you to the log tab and you should now see ERP updating.

Wait for the statement **** Update check finished **** before trying to log into a user.

If the files still don't update, then you will need to re-download the update files. Easiest way to achieve this is to go to the update file location and remove it, so that it downloads it again.

So if you go to C:ERP Software\Utilities\Updates\Beta\Client\user\..... you will see all of the update files for the users in a format similair to this "User_Setup_8030.dat" Find the most current and delete it. Now repeat the procedure within the ERP Service Menu and go to the "Update" tab and select "Check Update".
